Solicitor (England & Wales) · Trust & Estate Practitioner (TEP) · International Legal Adviser
I am a UK-qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) and International Legal Adviser with over 40 years in practice and a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). My practice spans English law, UAE law (including the DIFC and ADGM free zones), and cross-border frameworks, with a particular focus on the needs of high-net-worth individuals, privately held companies, family enterprises and family offices operating across multiple jurisdictions.
As a TEP — a designation awarded by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) to those who meet its rigorous standards of expertise and professional conduct — I specialise in the structuring and governance of complex wealth-holding vehicles: the drafting of constitutive documents, complex by-laws and governance frameworks across the DIFC, ADGM and RAKICC regimes, coordinated with English law and the legal systems of the jurisdictions in which my clients hold assets or maintain residence. I advise on asset protection, family and business succession planning, exit planning and legacy structures, with close attention to the interaction between common law frameworks and the civil or hybrid systems that frequently apply to my clients' wider affairs.
I have been active in the UAE and wider Middle East since 2006, building detailed working knowledge of the UAE's free zone trust and foundation regimes and the corporate and commercial frameworks alongside them. In addition to private client and succession work, I advise on corporate matters in the UAE — company structuring, shareholders' agreements, corporate governance and commercial contracts — and act as ad hoc in-house counsel to an international trading group with multi-jurisdictional operations.
My advice is strategically and tactically considered, commercially grounded and pragmatic. I am tenacious in representing my clients' interests and in achieving the best possible outcome. Where fixed or capped fees can be agreed, I will do so; where they cannot, there will always be full transparency on costs.
I am happy to discuss any matter without obligation before a formal retainer is established. Any pre-retainer communication is provided in good faith as general information only and does not constitute legal advice or create a professional relationship. Formal advice is provided only following the establishment of a retainer confirmed by an engagement letter.
